Bruce Blausen

Bruce Blausen, CEO of Blausen Medical Communications, founded BMC in 1991 with the intent of creating the country's largest library of 3D medical animation and graphic content. He has realized that goal. Bruce has a Masters degree in Medical Illustration from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelor of Art degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Bruce has over 20 years of medical animation experience and has created designs for a variety of clients including: Merck, Pfizer, CNN, Pearson Education, Discovery Health, GE Medical, EBSCO and Thomson. Bruce is now focusing his efforts on creating a series of Internet Atlas products for global distribution, using BMC's vast proprietary library.


Robert E. Ray, J.D., Ph.D.

As a trial attorney and consultant, Dr. Robert Ray has provided strategic trial presentation advice to attorneys in cases throughout the United States for over twenty years. His trial presentation, theme development and trial strategy advice has been sought by attorneys representing individual plaintiffs to Fortune 500 defendants in national mass tort litigation. Dr. Ray has provided research and consulting advice in mass tort actions such as tobacco and pharmaceutical litigation to insurance and commercial disputes, industrial disasters, product liability and intellectual property cases.

Robert earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Nebraska's Law &Psychology Program, where his Ph.D. dissertation investigated the effectiveness of digital animation in the courtroom.

Before his Ph.D., Dr. Ray completed his law degree at South Texas College of Law in Houston, and was a briefing attorney to Texasʼ Sixth Court of Appeals. He went on to become a name partner in the law firm of Burrow, Countiss &Ray, LLP in Houston, where he practiced trial law for over ten years and tried over forty cases to a jury verdict.

In addition to his law and psychology background, Robert received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.


Mike Hensgen

Mike has spent most of his career in senior marketing management, building and growing both business-to-business and consumer brands. Working client at Ralston Purina, STP and Pennzoil, he recognized marketing’s end objective was to deliver profits and its effectiveness was measured by ROI. And at major advertising agencies like Grey New York and Bates Worldwide, he was responsible for building strong brands and developing programs to leverage them.

Mike’s brand-building experience has ranged across start-ups to Fortune 50 companies, from local to global, among them Texaco, Europcar International, e-Realty start-up (later acquired by Prudential Realty), ConocoPhillips, Chevron, QwestCyber Solutions (Qwest and KPMG software applications joint venture), most all the hospitals in the Texas Medical Center (Memorial Hermann, Methodist Hospital, St. Luke’s Episcopal), the Texas Medical Center itself and the Greater Houston Dental Society.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri (Columbia) and a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from Washington University in St. Louis.


Dawn Willis

Dawn Willis is BMC's Senior Medical Editorial Director. She brings extensive knowledge about medical content and testing to BMC, and has a rich background in the field of Information Sciences. Dawn was employed by the National Board of Medical Examiners for more than 13 years and served as the Managing Editor for the USMLE Step 3 examination. While employed with the National Board of Medical Examiners, Dawn was instrumental in developing the examination content outline as well as new testing methods.

Dawn also managed the editorial development team as the NBME phased in computerized testing. She has worked as a freelance writer and editor, and her clients include Merck, AT&T, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Rodale Press. Dawn holds a Master of Arts degree in English Literature and a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Sciences.


Aimee Worden

Aimee Worden is BMC's Project Coordinator. Aimee holds a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Chicago at Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The ability to understand complex scientific and medical applications, as well as recognizing clients' needs, are Aimee's areas of expertise. She has efficiently handled numerous large projects from concept to completion with outstanding results.

Aimee is responsible for developing all future Consumer Medical Atlas (CMA) topics as well as databasing BMC's entire CMA medical library which currently consists of over 260 medical animations and 2,000 illustrations. She effectively functions as the liaison between staff and clients and ensures that all projects meet the needs of the client as well as appropriate deadlines. Clearly, Aimee has outstanding organizational and leadership abilities and is quite capable of managing Blausen's broad range of project demands.


Andrew Krzynowek

Andrew is BMC's Senior Interactive Media Designer. He holds a degree in Applied Science for Web and Multimedia Design from The Art Institute of Houston and has well-rounded experience in corporate-level website design and development. Andrew has a solid understanding of how to create exceptional websites using key technologies. He has a keen eye for the aesthetic without compromising functionality and efficiency. However, knowing what works does not prevent his keeping an open mind about a client's ideas for innovation. His attention to detail, combined with a readiness to embrace new technology and ideas, adds to his expertise.
